How to Increase Fertility
If you want to get pregnant, you'll
need to know how to increase fertility.
Fortunately, there are many simple lifestyle
changes that both men and women can make that
can aid in conception. The main rule is that if
something is healthy--do it. If it's not
healthy—don't.
Smokers should know that they are decreasing their chance of conception. Although quitting smoking can be difficult, it is the number one thing that you can do to help your chances of conception. Fertility is decreased for both men and women who smoke. And even second hand smoke can decrease fertility, so request that friends and family don't smoke around you.
Alcohol is another thing that can affect your chances of conception. Step two of how to increase fertility is to cut back on drinking. There is no set number of how much alcohol will affect your fertility. Don't worry about having a glass of wine with dinner or having a beer after work. But moderate or heavy alcohol drinking will have a negative affect.
Eat healthy. Don't go on an extremely restrictive diet. While being obese can hamper fertility, so can being underweight. Focus on eating nutrition dense food. Vegetables, fruits, whole grains, and legumes should be part of your daily diet. Try to get more of your protein from plant sources, such as beans. One thing you shouldn't do is go on a crash diet. Not only is this unhealthy for you, it will cause you fertility problems.
Cut back on caffeine. Limit how much coffee you drink daily. Green tea has been shown to increase fertility, so drink a cup of that instead. Also, both men and women should start their day with a cup of orange juice, or a piece of fruit that is rich in vitamin C.
Consider taking a daily multivitamin, especially if you aren't eating as healthy as you would like. You'll be taking a prenatal vitamin once you get pregnant, so get in the habit of taking a vitamin every day and you'll have a better chance of conceiving.
Discovering how to increase fertility naturally is an important step in the path towards pregnancy. Try to make lifestyle changes that will not only increase your fertility but also improve your personal health and give you healthy habits that you can pass on to your children.
